“A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ 36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”
37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.”
Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”
Today’s case is a man From Upper Egypt who came to Cairo 22 years ago. He worked in a factory as a laborer for more than 20 years. He depended on himself and was able to constitute a home, get married and have children. He was satisfied with his income and living happily with his children. He has 2 children. He had an accident; he ascended to the third floor to adjust the antenna of the TV. He lost his balance due to a hypertension as a result of 13-hour of continuous work. He fell from the third floor, thus caused a vertebral fracture. He went to a state-run hospital for 3 days; he underwent a surgery of fixing vertebra. 2 plated and six screws were inserted in his back. He had a compound fracture in his leg then they inserted plates and screws in his leg too, but he got paralyzed from the waist down. He had been paralyzed for 3 years. Staying at home after so many years of work is so hard on him. He had tests and the doctors said that the spinal cord is OK. They said it was a bruise affecting the limbs, accordingly he can’t move his legs. He became a pensioner, yet his pensioner is meager. He spent a long time at home and got bored. He needs an electrical wheelchair to help him to move, as he even can’t go to the bathroom himself. He has a catheter inserted. He wants it to become able to go out and get his family’s needs. He may also go the church and attend the mass. The chair would help him to avoid depression.
An electric wheel chair.
